On June 17, 2026, the MAM & UP-ON Live Art Documentation Center—jointly established by the Shanghai Art Warehouse Museum and the Chengdu UP-ON Performance Art Archive—was officially launched at the Art Warehouse Museum. Located in the northwest outdoor corridor of the Art Warehouse Museum overlooking the Huangpu River, the center serves as a professional art platform dedicated to cataloging the live art ecosystem, archiving documentation, and promoting academic dissemination.
The first exhibition of the project *Uncovering the Past*, sponsored by PUSHU, titled “A Brief History of Shanghai’s Avant-Garde Art in the 1980s,” opened concurrently. Taking Shanghai’s avant-garde art practices of the 1980s as its starting point, the exhibition looks back at the scenes where these works were created, thereby initiating the Documentation Center’s ongoing effort to trace the historical trajectory of China’s performance art.
