Lisa Hinterreithner is a performance artist based in Vienna, Austria. Her practice interweaves the body with material substances, exploring experimental forms of performance that address human and transhuman existence. She invites audiences, performers, and objects to participate collectively in the creation of collaborative actions. Recently, she has focused particularly on researching tactility and touchability—especially interactions between plants and humans. Her work has been presented at venues including the Vienna Dance Center, Krems Danube Festival, ImPulsTanz Vienna International Dance Festival, 5020 Gallery, and Salzburg Summer Festival, with additional showings in Germany, Denmark, and the UK. She regularly teaches courses in performance art and performance studies at SEAD Dance Academy in Salzburg, the Danish National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen, and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Currently, the artist is participating in the cross-media research project “Symbiosis in Flux—The Ecology of Collaboration” at the Imflieger art institution in Vienna.

In her work, she deeply explores connections between the human body and non-human entities in a transhuman world. Her research centers on the interactions between the human sensory body and plants, soil, water, air, various materials, and other humans. She views these sensory experiences, particularly tactile contact, as embodied, pleasurable, and healing encounters. These performative gestures of cross-material and cross-species touch offer a regenerative form of bodily engagement. Positioned at the intersection of feminist, queer, and ecological discourses, Lisa’s work situates phenomena of transhuman entanglement within concrete contexts through performance and installation.

Dariusz Fodczuk (born 1966) — visual artist and performance artist. Graduated from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin and the University of Arts in Poznań. His practice primarily explores the state of art, focusing on sculpture and performance art. Through series like Gra and participatory practices such as collective sleep and lying down, he continually redefines the relationship between creator, audience, and artwork.

From 2020 to 2024, he served as Head of the Department of Media Art, Photography, and Experimental Film at the Academy of Fine Arts in Szczecin. Since 2016, he has co-directed the “Audiovisual and Performance Art Studio” with Kamil Kuskowski. To date, his work has been featured in over 200 art festivals and group exhibitions across Poland, Europe, North America, and Asia, alongside more than 40 solo exhibitions.

Fudczuk positions himself as an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans performance art, sculpture, speculative design, and new media. He maintains a longstanding focus on themes of freedom and dignity, developing over years a methodology that treats artistic practice as resistance against the art system and its institutional controls, grounded in performance-based approaches. Theoretically, his practice is built upon an exploration of the role of the audience—as a crucial site where meaning is renewed and generated.

The workshop is led by Dariusz Fodczuk—an artist at the Academy of Art in Szczecin and instructor at its Studio of Audiovisual and Performance Action. This workshop focuses on key concepts in the psychology of creation and explores their practical application in visual and performative practices. Topics include: the structure of the creative process, the social context of creative activity, and systematic methodologies for creation. During the practical session, participants will engage in a series of exercises designed to develop and activate divergent thinking, imagination, cognitive flexibility, and the ability to maintain agency within artistic practice. Participants are advised to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing (such as athletic wear) and bring a notebook or sketchbook with pencils.

Carlos Llavata (b. 1964), a Spanish artist, is known for his instinctive and performative approach to creation, exploring the intuitive and spiritual dimensions of the human condition. Drawing from backgrounds in performance art, sculpture, and experimental theater, his work often unfolds through improvisational, site-specific actions that directly engage audience participation. A graduate of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, he considers “presence,” “the body,” and “energy” as core elements of his practice. His artistic education includes studies at the Manises School of Ceramics in Valencia, the Valencia School of Fine Arts (where he earned his degree), and advanced training in ceramics at the Rietveld Academy. He also received printmaking and mural training in San Francisco, USA. His creative work has taken him across Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia, participating in numerous exhibitions, art festivals, and collaborative projects. His work has been exhibited at: ARCO Art Fair (Madrid, Spain) / Art Amsterdam (Netherlands) / Chilean Performance Art Biennial (Chile) / Lostgens Solo Exhibition (Malaysia) / HYAP Festival (Helsinki, Finland) / Observatori Festival (Valencia, Spain) / Hangar Art Center (Barcelona, Spain) / Bilbao Art District (Spain) / RITES Festival (Singapore) / New Art Contact (Helsinki, Finland) / Interackje Festival (Krakow, Poland) / Zé dos Bois Art Space (Lisbon, Portugal) / White Night Festival (Madrid, Spain) / La Muga Caula Festival (Girona, Spain) / Flax Art Agency (Belfast, UK) / Nashan Art Space (Hanoi, Vietnam) / CCCC Art Center (Valencia, Spain) / UPON Art Space (Chengdu, China) / Cement Park Project · Explot Studio (Yokohama, Japan) / Changing Room Art Space (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

Carlos’s early practice centered on clay as a medium, a material that gradually guided him to establish “body and action” as core elements of his work. Concurrently, his experience in stage design and set painting deepened his ongoing interest in “presence,” “body,” and “space.” To the artist, the human body serves as a vessel of time, revealing political, social, and emotional dimensions through lived experience. This workshop is conceived as an open experimental space where participants will explore their relationship with the environment through action, experiencing “how the body transforms into an artistic language.”

This workshop aims to explore the unique potential of the body as an artistic tool, viewing it as a vital conduit for both political and poetic expression. Through action-based practice, participants will investigate how space, time, and materials are employed in performance art, activating both individual and collective experiences in the process. Ultimately, the workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to present their outcomes through public performances or open exhibitions.

Workshop Structure and Content

—Beginning with an introduction to performance art, the workshop will cover key concepts, significant case studies, and a brief historical overview.

—Participants will engage in practical sessions through body and presence exercises, cultivating sensitivity to perception, movement, and spatial dynamics.

—Experiments combining clay, everyday objects, the body, and the environment will be introduced to foster individual and collective action generation.

— All practices will culminate in a collective reflection and feedback session for synthesis and deepening.

Participant Notes

— No prior experience in performance art or art is required.

— Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to maintain physical and creative openness.

— Materials will primarily be locally sourced.
