Night School NO.60 | Multiple Paths: The Prism of Identity

Artist Pu Yun will share his artistic practice over the past decade, tracing his journey through time. From performance art to community art practice, and then to the nagging struggles of identity and reflections on the process, his artistic language remains in a state of constant exploration. His 2015 work, “Altitude-1947,” set in his native village, explored the profound relationships between geography, individuality, and culture. The later works, such as “Guangtan Teahouse,” “Rotating House,” and “Wedding Along the Way,” seemingly focused outward, are more deeply grounded in a perspective of self-contemplation. The performance art he created between 2015 and 2019 was a crucial experience for Pu Yun. He connected with his inner sensitivity through poetic performance, providing a path and technique for his subsequent, more expansive artistic endeavors.
