Artists Zhou Bin and Liu Cheng Ying founded UP-ON Live Art Space in 2007. Its agenda is to promote live art and also create opportunities of international artistic cultural exchanges in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. In the same year UP-ON Live Art Space started preparation for an international live art festival by inviting Lee Wen, the Artistic Director of Future of Imagination (FOI), an international performance art festival held in Singapore since 2003 in this project.34 local and international artists have been specially selected to participate in the upcoming live art festival in October 2008. UP-ON First International Live Art Festival will focus on experimental performances by artists with improvisations responding to the sites and promoting live art to the public. The art festival also emphasizes interaction, close contact and exchange among artists and audiences through seminars and workshops. After the festival in Chengdu, arrangements have been made for the foreign artists to also perform in Xi’an and Chongqing from October 15 to 17, 2008 to carry on the artistic exchange.
